About Reputational Security & Reputation Management

Everything you want to know about reputational security, how we work, and what to expect.

Common questions about Reputation City

Reputation City is a reputational security company – the first to treat reputation as a mandatory pillar of corporate protection, alongside cybersecurity, financial controls, and legal compliance.

We manage how companies and their founders are seen – in Google, in AI systems like ChatGPT, in compliance databases, and in the media, so that what decision-makers find is accurate, complete, and works in the client’s favour.

We are not a PR agency. We are not an SEO firm. We manage the signals that matter when a bank runs a KYC check, when an investor Googles a founder before a board meeting, or when a regulator opens a compliance file. These are different signals, different tools, and a different methodology.

Most companies protect their finances, their data, and their legal standing. Reputation – the thing that determines access to capital, banking relationships, partnerships, and markets – is left unmanaged.

The result: companies don’t know how they are described across media, search, and AI platforms. They react to crises instead of predicting risks. They are not ready for KYC, due diligence, or regulatory checks. They lose deals, partners, and investors to reputational signals they never thought to manage.

Reputation City is the first company to treat reputational security as a structured corporate function – with a three-level architecture: strategic risk analysis and crisis forecasting; tactical management across ORM, SERM, GEO, and PR; and expert-level compliance documentation and attack protection.

This is not reputation management as marketing. It is reputation management as risk control.

PR agencies manage media relationships and build public visibility. We manage the signals that compliance teams, investors, banks, and AI systems actually check: search results, database entries, AI-generated summaries, and public records.

A press release doesn’t fix what a KYC database shows. A media campaign doesn’t change what ChatGPT says about your founders. We work at a layer that PR doesn’t reach – and we often work alongside PR agencies as a complementary function.

SEO agencies optimize for search engine rankings. We optimize for trust signals – the specific sources that banks, investors, regulators, and AI systems rely on when evaluating a company.

Search visibility is one part of what we manage. We also manage AI-generated answers, compliance database entries, media narratives, and individual digital profiles for founders and executives. These are connected systems that need to be managed together – not in isolation.

Reputation City works with companies where reputation directly affects business outcomes. The right client is typically one of the following:

  • CFOs and Chief Risk Officers who understand that reputational risk affects company valuation and needs to be managed like any other financial risk.
  • Chief Compliance Officers who need documented reputation management to satisfy KYC, AML, and due diligence requirements.
  • CEOs of growth-stage companies who need AI visibility and a controlled digital narrative to attract investors and partners.
  • Founders building a digital profile from scratch who want to be investor-ready and compliance-ready from the start.

We also work with companies preparing for investment rounds, banking relationships in new jurisdictions, and market entry in compliance-sensitive regions.

We work across sectors where reputation directly affects business outcomes: FinTech, crypto and Web3, gaming and betting, financial services, investment and private equity, professional services, and international businesses entering new markets.

We work where the stakes are highest – where a single negative search result can block a bank account, delay a license, or cost a partnership.

Reputation City is based in Cyprus and works with clients across the EU, MENA, Asia, the USA, and CIS. We cover multiple languages and jurisdictions – because reputation looks different depending on where your clients, partners, and regulators are located.

Google returns different results in different countries. Regulatory databases vary by jurisdiction. AI systems answer differently depending on the language and geography of the query. Managing reputation properly requires global architecture with local depth.

About the Work

We always start with a Reputation Readiness Audit – a comprehensive assessment of how your company, founders, and key executives appear across search engines, AI platforms, media, and compliance databases.

The audit gives both sides a clear, honest picture of where you stand before any work begins. It covers every source that a bank, investor, regulator, or AI system would check, and it identifies the risks that are most likely to affect your specific business situation.

The audit is also a standalone deliverable. You can take the findings and act on them independently, or move directly into strategy and implementation with us.

It depends on the work. A Reputation Readiness Audit is delivered within 5–7 business days. Content promotion and new positive material can start showing results in search within weeks. Suppression of entrenched negative results typically takes 3–6 months. AI visibility changes – what ChatGPT or Perplexity says about your company – usually take 3–6 months of consistent work.

We set realistic expectations at the start of every engagement and report progress throughout. We don’t describe outcomes we can’t deliver.

Both, but our model is built around long-term partnerships. Reputational security is not a one-time fix; it’s a managed function. The companies that benefit most from our work are those that treat reputation the way they treat cybersecurity or financial risk management: as an ongoing discipline with continuous monitoring, regular reporting, and proactive response.

That said, some clients come to us for a specific intervention – an audit, a crisis response, a media campaign. We accommodate both structures and recommend the right one based on your situation.

Yes. In most compliance and due diligence contexts, founders, executives, and key shareholders are checked separately from the company. A strong corporate profile with a weak or absent founder profile creates gaps that compliance teams flag.

We build and manage personal digital profiles – search presence, LinkedIn, professional directories, media appearances, and AI-generated answers – alongside the corporate profile. The two need to be managed as a system.

We guarantee that we will use every available legitimate method and report progress honestly. We don’t make guarantees about things outside our control – like editorial decisions at publications or how quickly search engines re-index content.

We always tell you upfront what’s realistic and what isn’t. If something isn’t possible, we say so – and explain what is. We’d rather lose a client than overpromise.

Compliance and Due Diligence

Increasingly, yes. Regulatory frameworks in major jurisdictions are moving toward requiring documented reputation risk management as part of corporate governance.

SR 11-7 (Federal Reserve guidance) requires systematic control of reputational risks. FCA Principle 5 requires fair and conscientious treatment of clients – which includes reputational review. GDPR requires control of the digital footprint of individuals. Regulatory requests for documentation of reputation management practices are becoming more frequent across banking, financial services, and regulated industries.

Reputational security is no longer just a marketing function. For companies in regulated sectors, it is a compliance function, and should be documented and managed accordingly.

Yes – from the digital reputation side. Banks, investors, and regulators search your company, your founders, and your shareholders as part of their due diligence process. What they find online forms part of their risk assessment.

We structure digital profiles that align with what compliance teams expect to see: a coherent online presence, consistent information across registries and directories, no unresolved negative signals, and a clear, verifiable corporate narrative. We don’t advise on financial or legal compliance – we manage the digital layer that sits alongside it.

Typically: Google search results for the company name, founders, and shareholders; adverse media databases; KYC and AML watchlists; sanctions registries; business registries and corporate directories; review platforms; and, increasingly, AI-generated summaries from platforms like ChatGPT and Perplexity.

We cover all of these in our audit and address them in our work. We work with leading compliance data platforms including LexisNexis, Dow Jones, and WorldCheck – which means our assessments reflect the actual sources that banks and compliance teams rely on.

Yes. We audit records across business listings, databases, and registries – identifying inaccurate, outdated, or missing entries, and work to correct them through legitimate means. Consistent, accurate information across public sources is one of the most basic signals compliance teams check.

Search Reputation Management (ORM / SERM)

Whether content can be removed depends on its source, age, legal status, and the platform’s policies. We always tell you honestly what’s possible before we start.

For content that can’t be removed, we use suppression – promoting credible, accurate content to reduce the prominence of the negative material. We never promise removal we can’t deliver.

Suppression means reducing the visibility of outdated, misleading, or disproportionate content by promoting more authoritative, accurate content in its place. It’s not about hiding facts – it’s about restoring proportionality.

When a negative article from five years ago dominates the first page of search results and no longer reflects a business’s current reality, that’s a distortion. Suppression corrects it through entirely legitimate content and SEO methods.

Yes. We monitor reviews across platforms in real time, develop professional response strategies for both positive and negative feedback, help generate authentic positive reviews through ethical strategies, and handle threats from fake or malicious reviews.

Reviews are increasingly used by AI systems as reputation evidence – so review management is part of a broader reputational security programme, not a standalone activity.

AI Visibility (GEO)

AI referral traffic grew 206% in the past 12 months. ChatGPT accounts for the majority of AI-driven referrals. When someone asks ChatGPT, Perplexity, or Gemini which company to work with – they receive 3 to 5 named recommendations, not a list of links to browse.

If your company is not in those 3 to 5, the conversation happened without you. 87% of corporate decision-making processes now begin with an AI query. Clients are no longer searching – they are asking. And AI is answering on your behalf, whether you manage it or not.

GEO is the practice of structuring your digital presence so that AI systems – ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini, and others – can find your company, understand what it does, trust what they find, and cite you accurately when someone asks.

It’s different from SEO. SEO targets Google’s algorithm. GEO targets the training data, citation patterns, and content formats that AI systems prefer when generating answers. The goal is that when someone asks AI about your company, the answer reflects your verified story – not outdated press, incomplete databases, or someone else’s narrative.

Not directly – AI systems generate answers based on what they find across the internet. But we can significantly influence those answers by building a body of credible, structured, AI-readable content across sources AI systems treat as authoritative: media publications, directories, forums, your own website, and professional platforms.

We measure AI presence across four dimensions: how often your company appears in AI answers (visibility), where you appear within those answers (position), how AI describes you (sentiment), and which sources it cites when it mentions your name (citation authority). Then we improve all four – systematically.

Typically, 3–6 months of consistent work to produce measurable changes in AI-generated answers. Some changes happen faster – particularly when we correct specific inaccuracies by placing authoritative content that directly contradicts the error.

AI systems update continuously – which is why GEO is ongoing work, not a one-time project.

ChatGPT (OpenAI), Perplexity, Claude (Anthropic), Gemini (Google), DeepSeek, and Bing Copilot. We also monitor emerging platforms as they gain adoption in business and compliance contexts.

Digital Profile Building

A digital profile is the picture that emerges when someone searches your company or its founders across search engines, AI systems, media, directories, and databases. For most companies, this picture is automatically assembled from whatever happens to exist online. We build it intentionally.

This includes corporate website messaging, founder and executive biographies, company profiles across directories and registries, LinkedIn and professional profiles, structured content for AI readability, and a core narrative that is consistent across every channel where the company appears.

The result is a controlled, positive digital profile that satisfies KYC and compliance requirements, attracts investors and partners, and is built to hold over 3 to 5 years – not just through a single due diligence process.

Yes. Individual digital footprints matter as much as corporate ones – and in many compliance contexts, they matter more. Banks and investors check founders and key shareholders separately from the company.

We build personal digital profiles that are professional, searchable, and consistent: bios, LinkedIn profiles, expert positioning, personal websites, and presence in the directories and platforms that compliance teams and AI systems rely on.

Yes. We create corporate websites, founder pages, leadership bios, and structured digital assets optimized for both search engines and AI readability. We turn disparate online assets into a clear, professional picture that investors, partners, and banks immediately understand and trust.

Media and Content

Yes. We develop and place reputation-building content in credible business and financial media, industry publications, and expert platforms. A single article in a respected publication does more for your AI visibility and compliance credibility than fifty blog posts – because AI systems and compliance teams both treat editorial media as a trust signal.

We write the content, manage the placement process, and ensure it’s structured for both human readers and AI citation. For certain publications, we can guarantee placement. For tier-one business and financial press, placements depend on editorial decisions – and we’ll always tell you upfront which category applies.

AI systems and search engines evaluate reputation not only by what is published, but by how people interact with it – what they watch, discuss, and engage with. We manage engagement signals across platforms such as YouTube, Reddit, Quora, and professional forums to ensure your company appears active, relevant, and credibly supported. All methods are ethical and platform-compliant.

Crisis and Attack Response

We respond fast and methodically – at the same time. A competitor can plan an information attack and have it spread across the internet within 48 hours. Misinformation travels faster in search than verified truth. If you don’t control the narrative, others will control it for you.

First, we assess what’s actually happening: what content exists, where it’s spreading, and where it’s coming from. Then we develop a response strategy covering legal, platform, and content options in the right sequence. We stabilize search results, develop a counter-narrative built on accurate information, deploy trusted content to fill the information space, and coordinate with platforms and media where appropriate.

After the immediate crisis, we build a long-term recovery plan – because getting through an attack is only the first step.

We can begin assessment within 24 hours of a request. A response strategy is typically developed within 48–72 hours. Implementation begins immediately after the strategy is agreed. We move fast, but methodically, using only methods that don’t make things worse.

Technically accurate but misleading, outdated, or disproportionate content is one of the most common situations we handle. We address it through context – creating and promoting accurate, complete information that gives decision-makers a fuller picture, and through legitimate suppression of content that no longer reflects the current reality of the business.

Confidentiality and Methods

Yes. We sign NDAs before beginning any work – before any briefing, before any audit, before any conversation about specifics. Our client list is never disclosed. What we find, what we work on, and what results we achieve stays between us.

Reputation work is inherently sensitive. Our clients trust us with information about their companies, their founders, and their business situations that they share with very few people. That trust is the foundation of everything we do.

Yes, exclusively. We operate 100% within legal frameworks and platform policies. We don’t conduct information attacks on other companies or individuals. We don’t use tactics that could expose clients to regulatory risk or attract additional attention to a problem.

If something isn’t achievable through legitimate means, we say so, and explain what is possible instead. There are no exceptions to this.

We track measurable indicators throughout every engagement: search engine visibility for target terms, AI answer testing across major platforms – visibility score, position, sentiment, and citation source share – media placement reach, review sentiment trends, and structural improvements in the digital profile.

You receive regular reports in plain language – not dashboards full of numbers to interpret yourself. We tell you what changed, why it matters, and what we’re doing about it.
